Hi, I’m Charlene.

IF YOU’RE A WOMAN WORKING IN A MALE-DOMINATED WORKPLACE YOU KNOW IT COMES WITH ITS UNIQUE SET OF CHALLENGES!

I HELP WOMEN WHO WORK IN MALE-DOMINATED INDUSTRIES TO DEVELOP A GROWTH MINDSET AND THRIVE SO THEY CAN CHANGE THEIR EXPERIENCE WITHOUT CHANGING WHO THEY ARE.

Does this ring true?

  • You worked damn hard to get where you are today. You jumped through hoops. Overcame obstacles, ignored a lot of crap and battled biases. Maybe you even moved across the country to a place with no hair salon, just to get your foot in the door. You’re driven.

  • People see you as successful. Brave. A go-getter. But even with your accomplishments, you feel insecure. You fear being judged (because as a woman you have been). You hesitate to fully express your feelings and opinions (because you don’t want to be seen as emotional). You hold back.

  • You’re unsure how to deal with a few bad apples- the guys who have issues working alongside a woman. They chest puff and mansplain. You have to don your kid gloves to deal with them, and it’s exhausting (not to mention irritating).

  • You’re afraid of being labelled a bitch just for being confident and voicing your opinions.

  • You worry about not being treated fairly, taken seriously and getting ahead (because the truth is you been treated unfairly in the past).

  • You struggle with letting your guard down, Fearful an innocent laugh or beer with the guys will get you labelled as ‘fluffy’ or ‘flirty.’ So, you don your serious work façade, but that’s not who you really are…you love to laugh and just want to feel safe being yourself at work.

  • The “ol’ boys club” culture at work annoys the hell out of you, you feel disheartened and frustrated, but you’re determined to find a way to thrive despite the challenges.

5 ways to show up authentically as a woman working in a male-dominated industry

This fantastic workbook will help you to unpack and reflect on your own experiences as a woman working in a male-dominated field so you can show up unapologetically as yourself at work.

“You should be in the kitchen.
Not flying a plane! ”

I’m Charlene, a professional coach and pilot. And someone actually said that to me. If you’re like me and you’re a woman working in a male-dominated industry, I expect you’ve heard something similar. Probably many times.

I’ve been a pilot for 25 years and have seen and heard it all…like, ‘just because you’re a female I’m not going to treat you any different.’ (REALLY DUDE?!…because you just did.)

Being a female in a male-dominated industry comes with its challenges, but (like anything hard) it’s an opportunity to grow.

I help women find their courage and beef up their confidence. Get in touch with their worth, kick those self-defeating stories to the curb and recognize their value. All so they can thrive and feel like themselves at work.

I bring a growth mindset to challenging people and conversations. If you’re curious and willing, we can take your most frustrating situations, mine them for gold (I know it’s there) and crack any illusion your industry has placed on you.

There were points in my career where I was so frustrated with archaic ways and old-school attitudes that I thought about quitting. But instead, I took a deep dive into personal and professional development. Thank god I did. It helped me see that the hard times were actually lessons I needed to get to move forward. AKA - major growth opportunity! (sneakily disguised as struggles or failures).

Unfortunately, the patriarchy still exists and it won’t change overnight. I’ve realized the only thing I have control over is me. My thoughts. My feelings. My actions. That’s true for you too.

I was the first female captain on the Boeing 737 at my workplace. I know how it feels to be searching for someone who gets your unique challenges. And I know there are other ambitious, talented and successful women struggling to navigate a testosterone-filled culture like I have.
